EXIT/ENTRY

Freedom is one of our deepest longings. We want freedom from pain, oppression, fear, guilt, expectations, and anything else that seems to hold us captive. But the book of Exodus shows us that God’s purpose for freedom goes much deeper than simply escaping what enslaves us. God sets His people free so that they can know Him, belong to Him, worship Him, and live in His presence.

Exodus begins with Israel suffering under Pharaoh and wondering whether God has forgotten them. But God hears their cries, remembers His covenant, raises up Moses, confronts the power of Egypt, and rescues His people through the blood of the Passover lamb and the waters of the Red Sea. Again and again, Israel learns that salvation does not come through their own strength but through the power and faithfulness of God.

Yet getting Israel out of Egypt is only part of the story. God must also get Egypt out of Israel. In the wilderness He teaches them to trust His provision, at Sinai He forms them into a holy people, and even after their rebellion with the golden calf He reveals Himself as gracious, compassionate, and faithful. The story ultimately moves toward the tabernacle, where the God who rescued His people chooses to dwell among them.

Exodus points beyond Moses, the lamb, the sea, the manna, and the tabernacle to Jesus Christ. He is the greater Deliverer, the true Passover Lamb, the Bread from Heaven, and God dwelling with us. We are not merely set free from slavery to sin; we are set free for worship, obedience, relationship, and the presence of God.

Word of Encouragement

I am wounded by the betrayal and the pain of my past, but I am devastated no longer; for I am chosen by God, satisfied in Christ, and protected by an older brother who will never let me go.
