No Longer Alone

Even though more people are in the UAE than ever before, we can still feel lonely during Christmas. Our city transforms in December into Christmas activity buzzing with tourists and residents. The metro is about to get packed with tourists and our city is growing faster than ever with 1 new resident moving in every 6 minutes. Even though we are surrounded by people, we can still feel alone.

For some in our city this is the first Christmas away from family, while others have grown used to the loneliness of Christmas away from loved ones. Missing home, longing for family, or disconnected from community all sting a little bit more during what many call “the most wonderful time of the year”.

The good news of Christmas is that we are no longer lonely. God’s people in the Old Testament have heard the promised good news of “God with us” but had to wait for Jesus’ birth. We no longer have to wait because God has come to be with us in a very real and practical way. Because of Immanuel, we literally have God with us. Jesus’ incarnation paves the way for our relationship with the Father indwelled by the Spirit. There is no question about the fact that God indeed is with us. This series aims to remind us of this reassuring truth and comfort us with God’s ongoing presence during the Advent season.
